Caryn Brett
As a nurse clinician, Caryn's duties involve assessing patients in the hospital and clinic, educating patients before and after surgery, coordinating patient transfers between facilities, and handling pre- and post-surgery phone calls to answer patients' questions at home. Caryn has worked as a registered nurse for the past 19 years, 16 of those years in critical care units with patients recovering from open heart surgery. She has held a CCRN accreditation since 1991, and has assisted in such hospital education programs as the "Open Heart Recovery" classes and "Annual Skills Day" for RNs at St. Joseph Medical Center. In July of 1998, Caryn began working with the Cardiac Surgery Group. The "patient truly comes first" at the Cardiac Surgery Group, Caryn notes. The staff treats patients with compassion and respect, and takes pride in its ability to provide in-depth teaching to patients and their families before, during, and after hospitalization.
Caryn enjoys golf, swimming, running, and working out at the club. She also spends some of her free time working in her yard and keeping her house in shape! But she devotes most of her non-work hours to her two boys, who keep her busy with Boy Scouts, baseball, basketball, music lessons, and that dreaded homework.
