We recommend a number of programs in the Tacoma area to help you stay in shape, and live more healthily. Classes include: We invite you to contact us at the Cardiac Surgery Group for more information on these and other programs. It's time again for the annual "Sound To Narrows" event, or what we think of as the "Heart Disease Recovery and Prevention" event. We view this as an annual opportunity to reunite our patients while getting a work-out and we invite ALL of you to participate in some way! Yes, this means YOU! Even if you haven't been exercising regularly, this is a great opportunity to start! The Sound to Narrows is a yearly event in June, originating at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma. The "Sound To Narrows" is one of the largest walk/run events in the nation and we want you to consider it an important part of your ongoing rehabilitation program. Many members of our staff will be participating, and we'd like you to join us! You may choose to walk OR run either the 12k (7.46 mile) or 5k (3.1 mile) course. The distance and time are not important, but being there to reaffirm your commitment to healthy living is crucial! More "Sound to Narrows" information will be available in the Morning News Tribune and on the Sound to Narrows Web site, www.soundtonarrows.com as the event draws near, but please feel free to call our office if you have any other questions. We'll look forward to seeing you on "race day" for some "Serious Rehab"!
Sincerely,
This basic series of four classes helps you establish a healthy diet through low-fat meal choices and preparation. It covers shopping (label reading made simple), cooking (recipe substitutions), eating out, and staying on track with your dietary goals.
This dieting solution--which does not rely on special pills, diets or foods--utilizes "the six most powerful inner skills known to mankind," and was developed by the School of Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco. Come experience a new way to view both your weight and its management.
We can't change certain contributing factors to our heart condition: our genes, the environment, our history. But we can help our body cope with the stresses of today and tomorrow. Come learn an easy and effective technique to destress.
If you currently have, or in the past have had, stable angina, coronary artery bypass surgery, or a heart attack, the Franciscan Heart Center Cardiac Rehabilitation Program is designed to help you work toward and maintain a healthy life.
