Our Services
The Cardiac Surgery Group's primary focus is on the wellness and comfort of our patients and their families.
In general, our patients are referred to us from local physicians in and around the Puget Sound area. Your referring physician and one of our cardiac surgeons will assess your particular needs to be certain that cardiac surgery is the most appropriate option for you. Your surgeon will review your medical records, do a focused physical examination and discuss the options with you, your family and your referring physician.
The team of surgeons at the Cardiac Surgery Group perform between 500 and 600 adult cardiac and thoracic procedures per year, including:
- Coronary revascularization (more commonly known as bypass surgery)
- Valve replacements (or reconstruction, if appropriate)
- Reconstructive surgery of the great vessel of the chest
- Surgery of the chest and lungs, often utilizing "endoscopic" or limited incision technologies
- Pacemaker implants
Your surgical procedure will be performed in Tacoma at St. Joseph Hospital (Franciscan Health System) or Tacoma General Hospital (Multicare Medical Center).
A physician, physician's assistant, and nurse clinician will track your medical condition daily during your hospitalization, and will be available to you and your family if you have questions. We strongly believe that you should be well informed and comfortable with the clinical staff that will be providing your medical care.
